Emergency Assistance Fund
The Emergency Assistance Fund is available to provide residents served by LifeSTEPS with opportunities to enrichen their quality of life. The program is designed to give residents an opportunity to overcome challenges, walk the road to sustainability and self-sufficiency, and experience transformational change. Emergency Assistance Fund housing stabilization dollars coupled with LifeSTEPS’ financial education and case management services make this a highly effective program to catch people before they fall into debt and face potential eviction. With increased financial literacy, residents are in a better position to break the cycle of living paycheck to paycheck.
More Ways to Give!
J.B. Brown Fund
Established in 2011, the J.B. Brown Fund is a partnership between LifeSTEPS and USA Properties Fund, Inc. that empowers residents of USA Properties Fund communities to create self-sufficiency and lead a better quality of life. Together, we’ve raised over $1.5 million, with every dollar going to help individuals, families and seniors in need.
Partnership for HOPE Fund
The Partnership for HOPE was established in 2011 via a partnership between LifeSTEPS and AMCAL Multi-Housing. The HOPE Fund provides financial assistance to residents of AMCAL communities so that they can establish self-sufficiency, break the cycle of poverty, and forge a hope for the future. The Partnership for HOPE provides higher education scholarships for deserving individuals, housing stability by providing safety net services during financial crises, and provides youth with opportunities to develop leadership skills through education & sports scholarships.
Patrick R. Sabelhaus Scholarship Fund
Established in 2023, the Patrick R. Sabelhaus Fund honors Sacramento legal practitioner Patrick R. Sabelhaus, a pioneer in affordable housing law. Specializing in low-income housing tax credits, Patrick’s work led to the development of 25,000 affordable housing units across California, Nevada, and New Mexico.
The fund provides scholarships to residents of affordable housing communities for accredited universities, vocational, or trade schools. LifeSTEPS ensures 100% of the funds go directly to educational institutions, continuing Patrick’s legacy of transforming lives through education.
