LifeSTEPS Welcomes-Two Esteemed Professionals to Board of Directors
July 2nd, 2024 – Sacramento, CA – LifeSTEPS, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and families through social and supportive services, is thrilled to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors: Daniel Young and Judy M. London. Their extensive experience and commitment to LifeSTEPS will be invaluable as the organization continues to expand its impact.
Daniel C. Young brings over twenty-five years of expertise in finance, macroeconomics, and portfolio management, with a proven track record of success in working with institutional and high-net-worth clients globally. Most recently, Mr. Young served as a Product and Portfolio Manager for multi-asset and alternative investment strategies at a boutique San Francisco-based asset management firm. In this role, he catered to HNW, international, institutional, and family office clients. He spearheaded a marketing initiative for the firm’s global equity strategies, successfully raising over $1.5 billion in new assets under management by developing an international distribution channel and leveraging strong global strategic financial partnerships across the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Young is dedicated to giving back to the community. He has served as a Trustee and Board Chair for a local non-profit organization supporting disadvantaged and at-risk youth.
Judy M. London joins LifeSTEPS with a rich background in immigrant advocacy and legal representation. Currently a Program Manager with the Immigrant Center for Women and Children in Los Angeles, Ms. London has devoted her career to expanding access to counsel for immigrants facing deportation. From 2002 to 2022, she served as the Directing Attorney of Public Counsel’s Immigrants’ Rights Project, where she focused on impact litigation, SIJS, and detention work. She also launched the agency’s unaccompanied minors representation program, which provides zealous representation to hundreds of unaccompanied children in removal proceedings.
Previously, Ms. London was the Legal Director of the Central American Resource Center (“CARECEN”) in Los Angeles, where she played a crucial role in securing the enactment of the Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (“NACARA”). Her dedication to immigrant advocacy was recognized in 2015 when she received the Robert W. Kenny Award from the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Lawyers’ Guild. An alumna of UCLA School of Law, Ms. London has also contributed to legal education by creating and teaching an asylum clinical course at UCLA for ten years.
Beth Southorn, Executive Director of LifeSTEPS, expressed her enthusiasm about the new appointments: “We are honored to welcome Daniel Young and Judy London to our Board of Directors. Their wealth of experience and dedication to social services align perfectly with LifeSTEPS’ mission. We are confident that their contributions will significantly enhance our ability to serve communities in need.”
