Bridging the Digital Divide for Older Adults

LifeSTEPS is helping residents at Montaira Senior Apartments stay healthy and thrive through technology by working to close the digital divide for older adults. Through on-site, bi-monthly classes conducted by LifeSTEPS staff, residents are learning basic computer skills and gaining the ability and confidence to access information and services online. Computer literacy fosters increased socialization opportunities, access to healthcare through telehealth services and online support from family and friends, helping seniors age in place.

30 LifeSTEPS residents receive free Google smart speakers

Thanks to a collaboration between Partners in Care Foundation, Los Angeles County Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services and Los Angeles City Department of Aging, 30 LifeSTEPS seniors and residents with disabilities in Los Angeles recently received free Google smart speakers.

With the speakers, residents can connect with family, friends and healthcare providers hands-free, call for emergency assistance, check the weather, play music, listen to audio books and much more! We’re so grateful for this donation which will allow residents facing isolation during COVID-19 to stay connected and thrive through technology.
