LifeSTEPS Honored with Legislative Resolution at 30th Anniversary Retreat

LifeSTEPS is proud to share a meaningful milestone in our 30th anniversary year. During our Annual Leadership Retreat on Monday, March 9, we were honored to receive a formal Resolution recognizing the impact of our work across California.

Presented by Angelique Ashby and Josh Hoover, the Resolution acknowledges the vital role LifeSTEPS has played in improving the quality of life for individuals and families living in affordable housing communities throughout the state.

This special moment took place in front of LifeSTEPS leaders from across California, all gathered together under one roof for a day of connection, learning, and shared purpose. The presentation served as a powerful reminder of the collective impact made possible through the dedication of our staff, the resilience of our residents and clients, and the support of our community partners.

LifeSTEPS also shares a longstanding connection with Senator Ashby, who has been a strong supporter of our literacy initiatives. Our Summer Reading Program first launched in Sacramento in 2012 during her time on the City Council. What began as a local effort has since grown into a scalable program designed to prevent learning loss and foster a love of reading during the summer months, now reaching more than 125 sites across California.

Reflecting on this partnership and the impact of LifeSTEPS’ work, Senator Ashby shared:

“Youth literacy is an issue I championed then and continue to prioritize now, and I am grateful for the contributions LifeSTEPS has made to the quality of life of so many people throughout our state.”

For 30 years, LifeSTEPS has remained committed to empowering individuals and families to achieve stability, self-sufficiency, and long-term success. This recognition reflects not only where we’ve been, but also the important work that lies ahead.

We are deeply grateful for this honor and for everyone who has been part of our journey. Together, we will continue changing lives—one step at a time.
