Celebrating Financial Literacy Month

Financial Literacy Month may be coming to an end, but at LifeSTEPS our team continues to engage residents in conversations about budgeting, bold savings goals, credit scores and fraud with our Money Matters curriculum and Stretch Your Dollars series. During COVID-19, financial fitness has become even more critical, as families and seniors prioritize paying for rent, food, utilities and transportation. Financial literacy empowers residents to achieve housing stability, age in place and thrive in life.

Employee Spotlight: Jaylene Cruz

Jaylene Cruz began her journey at LifeSTEPS working with children as an after-school program coordinator, where she learned from observing and communicating with her Director of Social Services. Now a director herself, she empowers her program coordinators to follow in her footsteps to grow and succeed.

When asked about Jaylene’s abilities, one of her managers stated “Never underestimate Jaylene’s fire and desire to see her students succeed and their parents be at peace, knowing they have such a wonderful support through her and LifeSTEPS.” Jaylene, we applaud your integrity, innovation and enthusiasm.

April is National Fair Housing Month

April is National Fair Housing Month, and at LifeSTEPS we’re committed to providing equal service to all our residents and putting an end to housing discrimination in any form. Our core values of integrity, innovation, empowerment, respect and personal growth are central to our culture. Everyone has a right to live where they choose, and we will continue to increase public awareness of everyone’s right to fair and equal housing.

Bringing joy to children on Easter

We’re very proud of our LifeSTEPS staff for teaming up to assemble and safety distribute 50 Easter bags to children in need at Terracina at Morgan Hill Apartments, an affordable housing community located in Morgan Hill, California. The bags, filled with goodies, helped spread holiday cheer to the children, who were clearly delighted.

Terracina at Morgan Hill Apartments, developed by our partner USA Properties Fund, serves 72 families and individuals in the South Bay community of Morgan Hill. LifeSTEPS provides effective educational and supportive services to its residents.

The Easter bags brought big smiles, happiness and excitement to children living at Terracina at Morgan Hill,” said Ann Elias, Director of Community and Resident Services at LifeSTEPS. “Special events like this allow members of the LifeSTEPS team to contribute to our mission in meaningful ways and create extraordinary moments, bringing hope and joy to our residents.”

Here are just a few of our very happy and grateful friends!
